Report: Jets' Quarterback To Speak For 50 Minutes At Free And Open Event
NEW YORK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Jets quarterback Tim Tebow will appear at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego this Sunday as the special guest for a Father’s Day event.
Tebow will be front-and-center alongside Shadow Mountain Community Church Pastor David Jeremiah in a ceremony entitled “Father’s Day 2012: Encouraging Men To Live, Love & Lead.”
The 24-year-0ld quarterback and the pastor are scheduled to speak for 50 minutes, according to the North County Times of San Diego, and the event will be free and completely open to the public.
The Shadow Mountain Community Church is “dedicated to teaching the truth of God’s Word,” according to its Twitter page.
Tebow is no stranger to speaking to big crowds at religious-centric events.
The controversial Florida alum drew a crowd of about 15,000 to an outdoor Easter church service in Georgetown, Texas on April 8. On that day, he told the gathering that it’s important to be outspoken about faith while admonishing athletes about not being better role models.
“It’s OK to be outspoken about your faith,” Tebow told the crowd.
He also proceeded to take a shot at professional athletes who insist that they are not role models.
“Yes, you are [a role model],” Tebow said when referring to athletes. ”You’re just not a good one.”
