Investigators are looking into a phone tip suggested that drag racing may have been involved in the crash that killed “Fast and Furious” actor Paul Walker, according to CNN.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Cohen told the news network that the tip said another car may have been at the scene of the accident where the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT driven by Walker’s racing team partner, Roger Rodas, slammed into a light pole.
Tire marks on the asphalt nearby indicated a car was doing doughnut spins, the sergeant said, although there is as yet no indication they were related to the crash. The Associated Press has reported that this area “is known to attract street racers,” but the Los Angeles Times reported that witnesses only saw “a single speeding car” at the scene.
Cohen told CNN that investigators are also looking at the possibility that another car veered in front of the Porsche and caused the collision.
Autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday, according to the L.A. County coroner’s office, and investigators are still waiting for dental X-rays to help make official identifications.
