(NewsCore) - Rocker Tom Petty is offering a reward of $7,500, "no questions asked," for the return of five guitars that were stolen as his band rehearsed in southern California.
The prized instruments were reported stolen Thursday afternoon from a soundstage in Culver City, the Los Angeles Times reported. Petty and his band, The Heartbreakers, were rehearsing there for an upcoming tour.
One of the stolen guitars was built by German company Duesenberg Guitars specifically for Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell to commemorate the band's 30th anniversary. Others are vintage models dating back to 1967.
The band established the email address stolenguitars@tompetty.com for the public to send in tips, with a $7,500 reward for information leading to the return of the stolen instruments.
One Petty fan wrote on Twitter there was "nothing lower in life than a thief who would steal a man's tools to feed his family," according to the Los Angeles Times.
No arrests have been made yet in connection with the theft. Culver City police are investigating, the Times reported.
